CSAM3 Herbal Leys is included in the
Sustainable Farm Incentive (SFI) and requires an herbal ley to be established which contains a mixture of grass, legumes, and herbs to provide varied root structures as well as areas of flowering plants from late spring and during the summer months. The seed mix must include 1 grass species, 2 legume species and 2 herb or wildflower species as a minimum - ryegrass and/or festulolium should not make up more than 70% of the seed mix.
GS4 Legume and herb-rich swards is available under the
Countryside Stewardship (CS) mid-tier. With abundant legumes and herbs suitable for productive cattle and sheep, it also provides habitat and food for invertebrates and crop pollinators alongside improving soil structure and water infiltration.
