Triticale - Gamecover
Of all the cereal crops, triticale is probably the best for use in gamecover situations. Triticale is a hybrid of wheat and rye and will grow on the poorest of soils with pH as low as 4.9. It is very drought and cold tolerant.
As well as providing food and cover for gamebirds, it provides a great habitat for a number of the declining species of songbird, such as the corn bunting.
Available as winter (sow no later than April) or spring (sow no later than May) (also available as 100% organic seed).
Suggested sowing rate is 30-50kg/acre.
Price: from £20.50
