Canary Grass - Gamecover
Canary grass is very versatile, having the ability to provide a multi-functional cover for nesting, holding and driving. It is a long-term cover crop, providing a tall tussocky grass up to 6ft, and is a useful crop for areas where re-planting is impractical or un-economic (field margins, set-aside, forest glades or plantations).
Two varieties have proved successful: Holdfast being ideal for England and Wales, and Reed for northerly climates and Scotland due to its tolerance to harsh winters.
Suggested sowing rate is ~6kg/ha (2.5kg/acre).
