Success for Bright Seeds Open Day
Specialist seed merchant Bright Seeds is celebrating its most successful open day in the event's three year history. The open day - which was held at its Swallowcliffe trial site in Salisbury, Wiltshire on Tuesday 25 August - welcomed hundreds of influential guests. Land agents, gamekeepers and shoot managers all attended, taking part in a series of gamecover site tours throughout the day.
The event - which commenced with a breakfast at 8.30am - also welcomed key exhibitors from The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, The NGO - The National Gamekeepers Organisation - Carta Carna Gold Medal Game Feeds, BASC and Solway Feeders.
A BBQ lunch was also served offering those attending an excellent opportunity to relax.
David Bright, Managing Director of Bright Seeds said: "This is the first time we have held our annual open day in August; we usually hold it in September but this year we decided to run it a month earlier, ahead of the start of the shooting season. That way we hoped for more people to turn up - and we haven't been disappointed! Both existing and potential customers found the event very useful."
The open day will be complemented by a follow-up in February next year where the planted gamecovers on show in August will be available for review following the close of the season.
The trial site is home to more than 140 species and mixtures including some new and novel crops; the site is used to trial different crops and management methods - for example, sowing crops outside their usual sowing times - as well as applying different seed treatments and companion crops, weed control methods and herbicide applications.
